Genre is a way of categorizing film in different styles.
(i.e. Action, Comedy, Horror, Thriller, Adventure...)Films that belong to a particular genre share some things in common. These things include characters, props, colour connotations, sound, camera work and location. All these factors share similarities within the different genres. Three things we would find in common in Horror films would be that usually the movies consist of the blonde, the athlete and the virgin. Blood is something else that is present in most horror films. But most importantly, in terms of cinematography, the lack of lighting is a factor that generally Horror films share in common.
