Open vs. Closed Questions

In order to write the questions to ask the AS students we had to first understand the difference between open and losed questions. We decided to write the same number of open and closed questions in order to get a nice balance of straight forward answers and longer opinionated questions.

Closed-Ended Questions

Closed-ended questions are questions that have a simple and quick answer. Essentially they can be answered with a simple yes or no response.

Open-Ended Questions

Open-ended questions are those that require a little bit more thought process in order to be answered. A simple yes or no would not work. These questions can be furthered answered with the additions of some reflection by the person responding. These questions can also include opinionated answers, in order for us to obtain individual feedback as opposed to overall feedback. They also give the respondent the control of the conversation.
